Kathy Keidel won the lone first place honor in Best/Story Picture Combination for her Neighbors feature “Painting is a Privilege” about Artist Lee Lester published in November 2016. Her award was one of eight won by the Chaffee County Times in the Colorado Press Association 2017 Better Newspaper Contest.
“I’m so excited for Kathy. She’s created so many great stories for Times readers over the years,” Times editor Dave Schiefelbein said, “and for her to finally get the recognition she deserves is great news. “
“Lee Lester was certainly a great subject, but Kathy did a wonderful job capturing the multi-talented artist’s many endeavors both visually and through narrative, “ Schiefelbein said.
