Artist Judith Reese
"Scherzo (a jest or playful musical composition) in Fiber" comes from the SAORI tradition of freestyle weaving growing out of a Japanese Zen approach. SAORI translates as SAI "everything has its own dignity" and ORI "weaving". Materials used include Indian sari silk, alpaca wool, recycled silk cotton, and aspen or cholla wood. SAORI weaving is a serendipitous, whimsical artwork.
