OAS Guidelines


  • Entry to the show will be online ONLY.  Registration for the event starts June 1, 2021 and ends June 30, 2021.  Late entries will not be accepted.

  • Art will be accepted at the discretion of Chaffee Arts Entry Team.  

  • Artist must be a member of Chaffee Arts to enter the OAS. If you are not a member please visit our membership page to complete your form online.

  • Artist’s first submission is free with membership, second submission is $15, maximum of 2 pieces entered in the show.  

  • Artist must volunteer three (3) hours of time or can pay $20.00 to "buy" hours.  Signup for volunteer time is part of the registration process.  Signup early to ensure your top pick.

  • All art submitted must be for sale.  Art will be put on the Chaffee Arts website for sale from August 1 until August 29.  Chaffee Arts will handle all sales transactions through our website and will charge artists a 20% commission.  From August 1 - 13 art  description, title, price, etc. will be published – but not the artist’s name.  Once the show opens and judging has occurred, the art will stay on our website for sale showing artist name and any awards that have been won.  

  • If artist sells an art piece at the Open Awards Show, it will displayed until the end of the show which is August 29 at 5 pm.  Any shipping arrangements for sold art and for pick up of sold art is the artist's responsibility.  Commission checks will be sent within 30 days of the close of show.

  • Artwork must be original, designed and created by the Artist entering the work.  

  • Art must be created in the last five years and not previously shown at OAS.

  • Art will not be removed from show until show is over.  

  • If extra insurance is needed, artist will supply it.

  • Entry form will have a space for providing artist statement which includes the description of media, process, inspiration, etc. that will be displayed for use by the judge as well as visitors.

  • There must be 3 different Artists entered in the category for the category to be judged.  If a category is below three entries all pieces will be put in a Miscellaneous category and judged on their own merit.

  • Sculpture, Jewelry, 3D Mixed Media, Wood, Metal, Glass and Ceramics will be put on Chaffee Arts pedestals for display.  




  • Wall Art:  Dimensions no larger than 3ft. by 4 ft. Must be appropriately framed and ready to hang with wire.  No saw tooth hangers allowed. Unframed canvas must be museum wrapped and all edges painted. No reproductions.  Triptych or diptych must have matching frame.

  • Jewelry:   Must have its own display and designs are to be original and created by Artist.

  • 3D Art:   Art must be stable. Any work over 25 pounds needs to be delivered and installed by the Artist at the discretion of the show arrangers on the day the show is hung.

  • Fiber Art:   All pieces must be original, no kits; designs must be by the artist entering the work.   

Instructions for Entry

Before you complete your entry form:

  1. You must be a member of Chaffee Arts to enter the OAS. If you are not a member please visit our membership page to complete your form and pay through PayPal.

  2. Make sure you know which category your art pieces fall into (see above).

  3. Prepare a word document prior to submitting your online entry with your artist statement (max. 300 words) which will be available at the show we suggest you prepare it in a word document before completing the Entry Form and cut and paste this information into the Entry Form (this will save you time and effort). 

  4. All art will be uploaded on the Chaffee Arts website for sale so the best quality photography is recommended.  Photographs taken by phones are acceptable.  Maximum size for art images is      25 MB and jpg format. 

  5. After you complete your form, please pay any additional fees through our store:

    • ​1 Submission included in membership

    • 2nd Submission: $15   

    • "Buy out" 3 volunteer hours: $20

  6. After completing ​Entry Information, prior to submitting, if you do not have a PayPal Account, follow these steps after you click submit:

    • 1. Click on PayPal Checkout (Yellow Button)

    • 2. Click on Check Out as Guest

    • 3. Enter your email address

    • 4. Enter your credit card information

    • 5. Continue as Guest

Important Dates to Remember:

  • Load in at the Buena Vista Heritage Museum is August 18th, 11:00am-3:00pm

  • Pick up at end of show is August 29th, 5:00-7:00pm and August 30th, 11:00am-2:00pm
